Welcome to Robin Class Blog

We hope you enjoy our regular posts which will help keep you informed of what the children are doing in school.
Kings Coronation
We have had a great day celebrating the Kings Coronation. We decorated paper plates to use at our tea party. During our afternoon tea, the children made and ate jam sandwiches and chose a delicious cake. The children also completed a range of activities, including making self portraits of themselves in crowns, decorating crowns and finding the jewels. We finished our day with an assembly and a whole school parade in the playground.

Seeds, Leaves and Trees
Welcome to the summer term! Our topic is Seeds, Leaves and Trees. Please see the topic web below for more info.

Healthy choices
As part of this term’s PSHE topic ‘Healthy me’ The Robins have been exploring healthy choices and this week we looked at food. We had great fun working in groups to make diary free fruit smoothies and trying the different fruits- they were fantastic at being bold and trying new things- some things they liked and some things they didn’t but it was great that they had a go!

World Book Day 2023
Happy World book day! Robin class all looked spectacular- thank you so much for the huge effort you put into the children’s costumes. They were all so excited and enthused about the books they represented!
They had a very busy day exploring the modern classic of ‘Rumble in the Jungle’ by Giles Andreae and David Wojtowycz.
We looked at the different animals who live in the tropical jungles and they had great fun making a bird of paradise using an outline of their foot, watercolour and collage. They also had the opportunity to make headbands like birds of paradise!
We also had a visit from Hawk who were very kind and read with the Robins- such a fun day!

Amazing Animals
This term we will be looking at amazing animals.

School Trip
We had so much fun on our school trip. The children found out about lots of amazing animals. They played creative games including matching pictures of caterpillars and butterflies, being a badger and looking for food, and they even became a dung beetle! The children also made clay bugs and went pond dipping. It was a busy day.
Here are some photos of our wonderful day…

Let’s go fly a kite!
We’ve been looking at the story of ‘The three little pigs’ this week and the children have been thinking of ways that ‘the big bad wolf’ could use his strong breath for good instead of blowing the pigs houses down and they came up with ‘to fly kites!’
As it was a windy day, it gave the Robin’s the perfect opportunity to make and test their own kites.
They had great fun using the stapler, hole punch and threading to make their kites and then had a blast flying them out in the gusty weather.

This term…

Ice Baubles
The children have been experimenting with freezing and melting. They filled different vessels with festive foliage, fruits and herbs and topped up them up with water.
They then left them out in our outside area and watched them freeze in the sub zero temperatures- it was very exciting! We then hung them out on the trees and watched them slowly melt in the sun!

Christmas Activities
We have had great fun reading ‘Father Christmas Needs a Wee’ over the last few weeks. The children have completed lots of activities linked to Christmas. They especially loved the Elf station, where they wrapped their own presents. Here are a few pictures of what they have been doing…

The Little Nativity
The children were so amazing. We were so proud of them all. Thank you so much for coming and we hope you enjoyed their performance.

The Little Nativity
The Little Nativity rehearsals are going well and this week we had a photo shoot. All the photos will be available to buy on a disc on the day. I’m sorry if your child was away but there will an individual photo of your child on the disc. Here is an sneaky peek of what you have to look forward too…

Don’t forget the performance is on Wednesday 7th December in the school hall at 9.20 am all family members welcome.
Welly walk
The children loved their first welly walk today. They walked through puddles, collected sticks and even climbed trees. They enjoyed exploring the woods as well as running free on the grass. They can’t wait to go again next week.

Castle building
The children have enjoyed finding out about castles and have enjoyed making them in and out of the classroom.

Trip to
We are so proud of the Robin and Jay’s behaviour on the trip, particularly after the first week of being full time for the receptions- they were fantastic!
They had so much fun exploring different materials, felting and finding out about what life was like for Britons of the past. They particularly enjoyed the dressing up and walking through an orchard full of sheep! Well done guys!
